Something to Do, to Love and to Hope for

Today is December 31, 12:55 pm. I don't know what entered my mind when I thought of making a year-ender blog. I thought, hey it's all Spartan Transformation this year anyway so that should be fairly easy. Then, I scanned through my timeline photos on Facebook and my Instagram and realized that it could be an overwhelming task after all. After the initial discouragement I suddenly remembered my "About Me" on Twitter at nabuhayan ako ng loob. ^^ Now that would make writing this one simpler. I stated there: The grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for. Life is beautiful! 2013 was all about being a space for happiness and seeing that life is indeed beautiful. SOMETHING TO DO Now this is where my current roles come in. "Coach Kristine" - December 2011 marked our Day 1. 2012 was about creating our own results and 2013 was translating it for everybody else. I listed down the names and was happily su...

On Being Stuck

Image
Though we place a negative meaning to the word "victim" and wouldn't  want to be considered as such, we don't  realize that it's the default way of being and we resort to it for the simple reason  that it works for us. We see victims as helpless creatures who have no say on things. I, in particular like the way that it was defined by the Landmark Education. A victim, they say is someone who blames, justifies and complains. Much like our notion of the helpless ones. I came upon writing about this whole victim shebang because of a friend who chooses to be stuck. What? CHOOSES to be stuck? But why? Because it works. It allows us to whine on our current situation without accepting extra responsibility for a new course of action or a new way of being. So I'm grateful for this illustration that I saw on Pinterest which provides a quick guide for people who are stuck. And of course, this is my blog so I could also consider this as a #notetoself. We all have our fa...

On Blindspots

Image
Quick post on something that I realized earlier from a business conversation last night: We all have our blindspots. Some, we choose to acknowledge and some we choose to not act upon. It takes humility and a desire to improve and get out of a vicious cycle of what's not working for us to accept feedback and initiate change. That was a mouthful! Just needed to document that. Happy Wednesday!

Why I don't Watch TV

Image
Leadership authors have said it time and again, TV is a waste of time. I got reminded again of this little thing that makes a huge difference in the light of the recent supertyphoon with international name Haiyan (Yolanda in the Philippines.) Before, during and after any typhoon, it is the job of the networks to warn and report about its status and on their end, initiate calls for assistance for those affected. It is ALWAYS the case. I just noticed the sudden gloom on my Facebook news feed with some of my friends expressing their grief online from what they watched on TV. Everyone's entitled to post whatever they want and it just struck me to see how we tend to gravitate towards doing the easiest thing and contribute to a mood of helplessness. I have to admit that I also cried when I saw some of the photos online (reading the newsfeed is like watching TV, right?) then I stopped reading the stats. I looked for a way to help from where I am and carried on with being a source of hop...

October's Best!

Image
It's been a gratefully busy month! And before I finally say goodbye to my favorite time of the year and embrace the joys and challenges of yet another exciting month, allow me to give a round-up of some of the things, people and events which make me feel so blessed each day, October or otherwise. 1. Spartan Introductions! It's Free! Everyday, I'm just so excited to share how it has changed my body and my life. After making a list last night of the people to whom I introduced the program, I was pleasantly surprised to realize that I had the most number of appointments this October. So grateful to be busy doing something that I love.   Explaining The Right Nutrition 2. Mi Unica Hija's 3rd Birthday Seeing Isay grow is such a treat to the senses. Everyday is just so wonderful to hear her sing, see her dance, give her a bath, smell her mangromee (our term of endearment for her armpits), answer her learning books, read my Hour of Power affirmations w...

The Dreaded Day After

Image
Well the title makes you think of that other thing huh? This is just an update of the dreaded day after a haircut when the blow dry wears off. This is a test of a hair being wash and wear. I'm kinda happy with it. Provided that I fan-dry it before going outside, it's pretty much a wearable style. Kudos to the neighborhood parlorista!
