Something to Do, to Love and to Hope for

Today is December 31, 12:55 pm. I don't know what entered my mind when I thought of making a year-ender blog. I thought, hey it's all Spartan Transformation this year anyway so that should be fairly easy. Then, I scanned through my timeline photos on Facebook and my Instagram and realized that it could be an overwhelming task after all. After the initial discouragement I suddenly remembered my "About Me" on Twitter at nabuhayan ako ng loob. ^^ Now that would make writing this one simpler. I stated there: The grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for. Life is beautiful! 2013 was all about being a space for happiness and seeing that life is indeed beautiful. SOMETHING TO DO Now this is where my current roles come in. "Coach Kristine" - December 2011 marked our Day 1. 2012 was about creating our own results and 2013 was translating it for everybody else. I listed down the names and was happily su...

Mommy Mondays: German Measles

Image
Motherhood isn't just about measles, you know. But hey, here I am with my second Mommy Mondays post talking about measles. Again. It was very challenging to supposedly be "running" a household and be sick at the same time. Our household is pretty much on auto-pilot mode so I have to thank Roy and Amymy (our yaya since October 26, 2010) for that. Back to my german measles. I think we got the virus at the FEU hospital when Momsy was confined last May 30. We pertaining to me and my ate who had it days before me. A run-through of events: May 30 - June 2: Momsy's confinement ergo, pagod, puyat and stress = mababang resistensya . June 3 - June 6 in the afternoon: Life goes on June 6 late afternoon: I started feeling the chills. My chest felt heavy and I just wanted to go home. June 7 - June 10: on and off fever, joint pains I was still able to accompany my mom for her check up last June 10 then I spoke with my sister over the phone and she told me to watch out for a...

Family Friday: Lab na Lab (Love na Love)!

Image
I think it was through one of the speakers in a business seminar where I learned about the "signature pose." As jet setters, he and his wife would document the landmarks that they visit through one pose and I found it cute. Of course, I'd also want to have that for my family. Hence the lab-na-lab-shot. It is a pose for 3 people where the one in the middle would be the receiver of a big (and ideally wet) kiss on both her cheeks from two people who love him/her so much. Of course, Isay would be the one in the middle. We have yet to figure out how we'll make it work when we become more than three in the family. #ingodsperfecttime :) I was all set last week to have the first 2 lab na lab photos printed and as if the Universe is reminding me to handle that, I saw this super cute photo on Facebook.  Get the concept? Presenting to you our lab na lab shots. :) Isay's 1st Birthday Isay's 2nd Birthday Masuki Date October 13, 2012 W...

Mommy Thursday: What's your Lullaby?

Image
lull·a·by / ˈlələˌbī/ Noun A quiet, gentle song sung to put a child to sleep. I don't know why lullabies are so effective but they work like magic. On the part of babies, I guess it's a prompt for them to relax and feel that hey it's time to rest now. While for mommies (well for me at least), I think it's a way to not notice the time and not feel the effort to put a baby to sleep. haha! Though we see images of loving moms and babies cuddling in Johnson's commercials before putting them to bed, sometimes that's not the case most especially for toddlers. Putting them to bed minus the drama is quite a challenge. As a mom of a 2-year old, I could sense that she's so busy exploring the "world" that 24 hours is not enough. Minsan, ayaw naman matulog pero alam kong kailangan na. Knowing that she's tired and singing a lullaby sort of tells her that "baby, you need to rest." How about you, do you effortlessly put your babies to sleep ...

The Pusod Shot

Image
Ok, so a few hours ago, I released a photo on my Facebook timeline that shows my tummy. Eeeeeh. My heart was beating so fast and I had to ask myself several times if I should wait until next Saturday to share this "pasabog." Pasabog or explosion was a popular term among the Spartans since Saturday because of new and updated Spartan success photos. It was explosive in a sense that those who'll see it are in for a great surprise. Going back to my tummy photo, I released it without much drama because I realized that hey, this photo's gonna inspire more people to work on their health. Besides, I'm the only Spartan coach whose official photos don't display my tummy area (no quality control yet during Batch 00 days.) So I'm sure inaabangan ito ng mga fans ko. Chos. There are several ways to have a flatter tummy and how I got there was probably the easiest, most effective and non-invasive method. Coming from a 39.5-inch waistline, this is major progress! I stil...

Mommy Mondays: Roseola aka Tigdas Hangin

Image
Here's more of a public service post. lol.  I realized that I should be sharing more mommy posts for future reference and of course to add value to fellow mommies out there. And what could be more fitting than to label it with "Mommy Mondays?" Nagpapaka-creative! For today, allow me to share my first encounter with Roseola or Tigdas Hangin . Last Wednesday, Isay had fever. As you may know, fever in itself is not an illness, it's a sign that our body is fighting some form of infection. So, Amymy (our kasambahay) thought that it's because of Isay's pagngingipin. We started to worry when the fever lasted for another 2 days na walang ubo or sipon (dito kami sanay e, hehe.) Isay was still very playful although she lost her appetite and was extra clingy. On the fourth day, wala nang lagnat then rashes started to appear on Isay's face then to her arms and back. As of press time, meron na rin sa hita. Yesterday, we took her to Medical City and she was diagn...
