Mommy Mondays: German Measles

Image
Motherhood isn't just about measles, you know. But hey, here I am with my second Mommy Mondays post talking about measles. Again. It was very challenging to supposedly be "running" a household and be sick at the same time. Our household is pretty much on auto-pilot mode so I have to thank Roy and Amymy (our yaya since October 26, 2010) for that. Back to my german measles. I think we got the virus at the FEU hospital when Momsy was confined last May 30. We pertaining to me and my ate who had it days before me. A run-through of events: May 30 - June 2: Momsy's confinement ergo, pagod, puyat and stress = mababang resistensya . June 3 - June 6 in the afternoon: Life goes on June 6 late afternoon: I started feeling the chills. My chest felt heavy and I just wanted to go home. June 7 - June 10: on and off fever, joint pains I was still able to accompany my mom for her check up last June 10 then I spoke with my sister over the phone and she told me to watch out for a...

The Pusod Shot

Image
Ok, so a few hours ago, I released a photo on my Facebook timeline that shows my tummy. Eeeeeh. My heart was beating so fast and I had to ask myself several times if I should wait until next Saturday to share this "pasabog." Pasabog or explosion was a popular term among the Spartans since Saturday because of new and updated Spartan success photos. It was explosive in a sense that those who'll see it are in for a great surprise. Going back to my tummy photo, I released it without much drama because I realized that hey, this photo's gonna inspire more people to work on their health. Besides, I'm the only Spartan coach whose official photos don't display my tummy area (no quality control yet during Batch 00 days.) So I'm sure inaabangan ito ng mga fans ko. Chos. There are several ways to have a flatter tummy and how I got there was probably the easiest, most effective and non-invasive method. Coming from a 39.5-inch waistline, this is major progress! I stil...

Behind the Photos: Stories of Transformation

They say that a picture says a thousand words. For some of my Spartan accountability buddies, those thousand words may not be enough that we still had to write about our personal journey towards our success in the program. True enough, the photos don't show the challenges, the bigger why's (or reasons) for doing it, what excites us in the coming days and several other emotions that weren't captured by a set of photos with a standard format - front, left, back, right. ;) I'm not really ok with sharing their intimate photos in my personal blog so allow me to have here a compilation of the FB notes that were generously shared for public viewing by my #1 supporters, my Spartan Transformation Team! Some of them say that my result was one of the things that got them to take a look at the program and it makes me so happy to see (and hear) them get closer and closer to their goals because of a simple decision to do something about their current condition. May this compilat...

How I Lost 30 pounds: My Spartan Transformation Experience

Image
My primary reason for enrolling in the Spartan Transformation Program was business but then I realized, who am I kidding? Wouldn't it be great to bring back the "glory days" when I could wear nice-fitting clothes and have the energy of a college student? I also thought that it would be exciting to conceive again with a healthier body so the next step was to get me that package. Initial Doubts 1. We didn't have the extra money for the package. 2. Will this work for ME?? The Kristine who loves to eat sweets and refined carbs + drink Kopiko with them each time?  No one really saves up for weight loss. Aminin, we always have that thinking that somehow, we can get away with leading an unhealthy lifestyle AND somehow lose weight when the time is right. So we work hard, "reward" ourselves with what we earn on unhealthy habits then when sickness happens, we use our hard-earned money to get better, only to return to our old ways. So for me, it was mo...

Ako? Mataba? Excuuuuze me.

People would always know me as someone who’s bakla, confident, fun-loving and free-spirited. I have this habit of trivializing things and the need for a punchline when things get “too serious.” This may probably be one of the reasons why being overweight is not too big of an issue for me because I can get away with it. My confidence is not diminished by my size. Keri lang ba. I remember back in highschool when I always get the role of moms and donyas and I was good at it because I can’t relate to the “smaller” roles. hehe. I managed to be slim in college when there were lack of funds for food, there was a very hectic (and active) schedule and there was a  decision  to lose weight. It was a success! As a result, I had my first boyfriend when I was 18. Yiheee. Then adulthood happened. I was busy and stagnant at the same time, I had money for a gym subscription but I also had money for food, and Starbucks and office lunch-outs and emotional food trips and everything nice...
